NAO, the modern Jazz vocalist.

10views

Studying vocal Jazz at the Guildhall School Of Music & Drama in London; this England native was born to sing.  With a modern Jazz twist; over her neo soul, combined with electric music and alternative R&B lyrics. Born Neo Jessica Joshua in the December Winter of 1987  in Nottingham, England. This “Modern Jazz Vocalist” has already sang background for artists such as: Kwabs and Jarius Cocker. Nao was a nominee for the best newcomer at the 2015 MOBA Awards. Nao released her first EP, So Good, peaking at number 4 on the iTunes electronic chart and the title track made the BBC Radio 1 and BBC 1xtra national playlists in the United Kingdom. For those of you who don’t know what BBC Radio 1 is – it is a British radio stated operated by the British Broadcasting cooperation which also broadcasts international. Specializing in modern and current popular music and charts hits throughout the day.  BBC Radio 1 didn’t start 24 hour broadcasting until May.1,1991. With equivalently music genres equally: Electronic dance, Hip-Hop, Rock, Indie or interviews. Releasing her second Ep, February 15 (IIMMXV), in May 2015, acquiring the “Best New Music” tag from Pitchfork Media. Nao was a highlighted vocalist and writer on Disclosure’s UK number 1 album. A huge fan of 90’s music more-so Janet Jackson, and the late Aaliyah. I wouldn’t consider her Jazz a classical sound, she’s more of a modern Jazz, and blues. Not long ago, releasing her single debut “Bad Blood” (NO! Not Taylor Swifts, ‘Bad Blood’), along with being featured in the long list for BBC sound of 2016 prize in November 2015, but only was placed in third place in January 2016.

Do you remember the riding, the passion

The falling over, tripping on ice.

Sharing advice, taking it twice.

But let us not forget the silent day,

stripped away.

Time and place.

Oh, you choose not to remember.

Fly, away, counting days.

I’m hiding from you, ooh
