If we know anything for a fact, it’s that Elephant Man has the uncanny ability to light any song up. The Dancehall/Caribbean/Reggae veteran is known for his summer BBQ party anthems that still garner radio plays across the country any time of the year. Recently Elephant Man lent his high-energy pounding talents to DJ Sultan on his newest release, “Hips Sing”. A fusion of sorts, the track emulates world music, reggae, dancehall and EDM into a single dance party anthem. Filled with hard hitting drum kicks, and various world instrumentation, the song weaves between different sub-cultures and vibes to create a song reminiscent of Labor Day Weekend on Flatbush avenue in Brooklyn. Along with Elephant Mans vocals, it’s almost too infectious to not move too.
The song never stops building, and remains upbeat and fun. DJ Sultan’s maximalist production effort never misses a beat. New instrumentation comes in every few beats to keep your body moving, and the party pumping. Fusing so many different sounds together DJ Sultan manages to transcend the wide-encompassing “EDM” genre and opens to the party to everyone, no one sound or color is more important the other. DJ Sultan’s production is so precise; each individual part comes together to create a sonic masterpiece. With so many different inspirations, Hips Sing has something for everyone, and is sure to incite the summer party that will define season.
