Alicia Keys Drops Tracklist For 'HERE' - Releases New Song "Holy War"

Alicia Keys is gearing up for the release of her 6th album HERE, which drops next Friday. She decided to surprise her fans on Twitter and slide up in their DM’s. What she revealed was the tracklist for the album, which you can check out below. “In Common” and “Hallelujah” will feature on the deluxe edition of the album.

Alicia Keys’ HERE tracklist:

1. The Beginning (Interlude)
2. The Gospel
3. Pawn It All
4. Elaine Brown (Interlude)
5. Kill Your Mama
6. She Don’t Really Care_1 Luv
7. Elevate (Interlude)
8. Illusion Of Bliss
9. Blended Family (What You Do For Love) ft. A$AP Rocky
10. Work On It
11. Cocoa Butter (Cross & Pic Interlude)
12. Girl Can’t Be Herself
13. You Glow (Interlude)
14. More Than We Know
15. Where Do We Begin Now
16. Holy War

So these track titles give us plenty to think about. With 5 interludes in this 16-track project, we’re looking at 11 songs. Which is exactly a perfect number for tracks on an album. She already released one of them, “Blended Family,” with Harlem’s A$AP Rocky. Furthermore, this week we’re given a new track, “Holy War,” the closing track on the album.

So the message of the song is pretty simple. As opposed to worshipping war and global destruction while demonizing sex, why not do it the other way around? Spread more love, stop the violence and hatred, as well as end war. Production-wise, the song even has a light touch. Specifically, with a simple acoustic guitar, and explosive drums during the chorus.

Most noteworthy, these are good signals of what to expect from the album. This more stripped-down, live instrumentation vibe is a good soundscape for Keys right now. Though she has touched on it with songs in her previous albums. If the whole album sounds like this, HERE will definitely be getting plenty of spins from me.

You can listen to the song up above, as well as leave your thoughts down below.
