The gangstafied, socially conscious roster of Top Dawg Entertainment already had a budding branch for eccentric artists when Ab-Soul signed in 2007, but really began to expand in that direction in 2013 when Chattanooga, TN rapper Isaiah Rashad signed. The 25 year old stands out from the rest of his peers on the label with his subject matter tha tackles topics of substance abuse, suicide, and spirituality as they relate to his own personal struggles. His debut, “The Sun’s Tirade,” was released in September of 2016 with positive reception. Debuting at the 17th spot on the U.S. Billboard 200, the album sold 19,000 copies during the first week of its release.
