Mayer delivers his first new music since 2013’s Paradise Valley.
After spending time as the lead singer for Dead & Company, John Mayer returns to his solo music in a big way. While his previous two albums have been very folk driven, Mayer has been hinting at a return to pop music. “Love On The Weekend” is similar in sound to 2009’s Battle Studies, with a little brighter message.
After Mayer posted clips from the studio, most people expected something a little more upbeat for the first single off of the upcoming album. However, “Love On The Weekend” certainly won’t disappoint fans, as it is very much a return to a more classic Mayer sound than we have heard on Paradise Valley and Born & Raised.
During a Facebook Live Q&A, Mayer also confirmed a new album, called The Search For Everything, is on the way and claims that he will release more music in 2017 than any other year of his career. He also announced that a tour would last through most of the year starting in the spring and could include John Mayer Trio.
